About Us

Welcome to the International URBAN ARCH Center Website! We invite you to explore our website to learn more about the exciting alcohol, HIV, and TB research conducted by our Center, which builds upon the previous work of the URBAN ARCH Consortium (2011-2021).

TB, HIV, and heavy alcohol use are huge contributors to morbidity and mortality worldwide; many questions remain about the impact of alcohol use on the spectrum of TB infection among people with HIV (PWH). With funding from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) we have an opportunity to explore these issues as one of a small number of NIAAA-funded HIV/alcohol centers. The central goal of the International URBAN ARCH Center is to examine the role of alcohol use on new TB acquisition, occurrence of active TB disease after TB preventive therapy, and post-TB lung disease among PWH. We hope that this website will allow us to share information about the unique constellation of URBAN ARCH research activities with both interested individuals (to advance general knowledge in this realm) and with clinical and basic researchers (to enable new collaborations to advance new knowledge).

Thank you for visiting our website!
